Invasion of the Body Pillows

I have reached the point in my pregnancy when there is no possible position in my bed in which I can sleep comfortably.  Even with several additional pillows, including a full body length one, my back or hip are inevitable very sore when I wake up.  Which is five times a night.  I would be tossing and turning, but with the amount of mass I’m dealing with, it’s more like the rolling over of a beached whale.  Of course, this is a common pregnancy complaint, and so I thought I would look online for some sort of support pillow.  Here are some of the results I found.  I found some of them so comical, I had to share them.

What I want to know is, where does your husband sleep when you’ve got one of these things in the bed?  Unless you’ve got an extra large king sized bed, your man is going to be kissing your pillow goodnight, not you, and then rolling over to the two inches of mattress he has left.  I already feel guilty enough with putting the body pillow in between Andrew and me, but if I put it on the other side, it falls off.  Oh well, it may turn out to be a moot (is that a real word?) problem after all, since I might very well end up sleeping on the sofa for the next seven weeks.  It comes with a whole lot of extra pillows.

  1. I have just a normal straight body pillow, but it is huge! We have a queen size and there’s enough room for both of us, AND two body pillows. DH uses one too! Go for it, sleep is way more important right now than DH’s comfort ;)

  2. I seem to recall that the other night, I actually fell off the bed and hit my torso on the nightstand. I was pretty groggy, so I don’t remember much, but I’m sure it was caused by your over-abundance of pillows.

Hopefully, your sleeping on the couch won’t affect our marriage too much. :-)

  3. some gals in my ward and I were talking at enrichment last night about how pregnancy is worse than child birth….I think sleep is a huge part of that (and heartburn)…at least during birth you can get drugs. What can ya get for the night months of sickness, sleepless nights and heartburn (oh yea, I guess you get a baby!!) It is totally worth it for the big payoff. May your last few weeks FLY by!!

  4. Oh those last weeks of pregnancy–so uncomfortable. I got a kick out of the creativity of those making the body pillows.
