Let’s see…
Go to hospital, deliver healthy baby boy…..check.
Manage to get baby boy’s car seat and three other children into 12-year-old minivan with only one sliding door and bucket seats and very little leg room……check.
Survive engorgement with a baby who tends to fall asleep the minute he latches on…check.
Keep three older children from picking up baby boy or sticking anything such as dirty fingers or baby carrots into his mouth to suck on……check.
Have traditional emotional breakdown after first two days of having baby at home, feeling sore from head to toe (most pronouncedly in the middle), getting three hours of sleep (non-consecutively) and having children scream at each other at record-breaking decibel levels while Andrew is at mutual and I am trying to nurse a baby who refuses to stay awake…..check.
Convince Lily that she really is too old to sit in the baby swing anymore….check (I hope).
Return all dishes to the nice people in our ward who have made and continue to make dinners for us this week before they start stacking up to the ceiling…..um, need to get started on this one (quite frankly, there are some real advantages to having a husband in the bishopric at a time like this. In the past, after the birth of a child, we’ve been lucky to have our visiting teachers bring dinner over two nights in a row. This time, we’re booked solid for dinners through at least Saturday, and people keep calling. So, either we’ve become way more likeable in the last three years, or we’re getting a little bit of a return investment on Andrew’s dedication to his calling).
Sleep…ha! yeah, right!
Get all bodily functions to return to normal…..uhhhhmmm, check back later on that one.
Despite everything else, enjoy new baby boy, who is very, very cute…check, check, and check!
Oh, I think back to those first weeks of each baby with fuzzy fondness. It’s so hard, but so sweet too. That little boy is adorable — enjoy this time, challenging as it is.

Your list cracked me up. The kids go back to school soon right? I’m hoping things are a little easier with just Lily and the baby. Hope you get to feeling better soon! oh, and we’ll keep everything crossed that you can start getting better sleep!! Wouldn’t it be SO much easier if you were getting 8 hours a night?

Oh, I loved this blog–it was very fun to read. All those checks are quite an accomplishment!
